Alright ladies, grab your red lipstick!

2015-11-14 21.42.23-1While I enjoy being super silly and dorky and that is my personality by nature, when it comes to fashion, beauty etc, I never felt like I was one that owned that world. I will wear whatever I want to and own that, but then I usually become a creature of habit and don’t really veer from the straight and normal path. For example, I rotate the same old Yoga/Pilates leggings from like FIVE years ago every day during the week. (Did I mention I don’t do Yoga/Pilates anymore though?!) And because I work from home now, it’s not like I have to get all dolled up, so you will very rarely see me around my ‘hood or in carpool with any make-up on my face or my hair did.

A few weeks ago I chopped off my hair and I gotta tell you, it’s made me feel a little adventurous…even sassy if you will. I have always admired women who can wear red lipstick. I know at least three2015-11-14 20.06.14 women off the top of my head, my friend Elizabeth who is a stylist/fashion Blogger, my friend Beth who works in music and my friend Amee who runs her own company…they GALA3ALL rock the red lipstick. I have done it once or twice as part of a costume but never to go out for real. Last week, I went into Walmart because I wanted to check out the Star Wars line by Cover Girl. Yes, cus I am a Star Wars goob. I saw that they had red and thought…what the heck, I’m gonna try it! And partly cus I just really wanted to have Star Wars lipstick. The next night, I went to an event for Amazon Free Time and got to see some friends and everyone was SO complimentary. I’m not gonna lie, it was kinda exciting. I felt like a different person. Like, look at me and my new red Star Wars lipstick. lol I even had an extra skip in my step. The best part was when I came home and my three year old daughter looked at me and said, “Mommy! I love your new chapstick!!!”

File Nov 19, 1 57 53 PMA few days ago my husband and I had a double date with my friend Taylor and her husband Glenn and I decided to rock bright pink lipstick. Taylor said I was glowing! Who knew a little bright lipstick could File Nov 19, 1 58 11 PMchange your whole look. Here’s the thing. I am probably not gonna rock bright red or pink lipstick on a field trip at my kid’s school, I’m not THAT brave HA, but I am definitely gonna put these bright and bold colors into rotation. Because why not, right? Life is short!

It reminded me that once again, sometimes you just have to step out of your comfort zone! I’m SO glad I did.

I always feel goofy when I am wearing it! Like, who is that girl trying to be?!?! Haha! But it is the time of year for red lips! I’m gonna rock them soon and think of you!

Yes- I hardly ever do – but throwing on a pop of fun does always change the way the day goes. A year ago I decided during my hair appointment to put a deep red streak in my hair. When styling, I could blend it under or show it off – everytime I passed by a mirror it made me smile and feel full of life 🙂

Cindy, you really did ROCK THE RED!! You look absolutely amazing in the RED. You really should wear it more often – I think that your hubby would agree.

I have red lipstick, but I don’t use it that often. I like the neutral/nudes lipstick colors like brown.

I loved when comedian Stephen Colbert put on Star Wars makeup on his late-night talk show last year. So funny! My mom jokes that I should have been born wearing red lipstick. It’s inspiring, and also makes your teeth look more white. So many glamour girls swear by it, like Madonna, Gwen Stefani, and Taylor Swift
