Spring Break traditionally, is about drinking, partying and not sleeping a whole lot right? Well, at least that’s what I have “heard”. lol Ok, Ok yes I have done a typical Spring Break but I can honestly say that I never had more than one of those when I was of the traditional Spring Break age. lol
But Spring Break doesn’t have to be just for the kids. Last year we started a new Spring Break tradition in my friend group. Myself along with two of my bestest friends said, “let’s do this, let’s go to our favorite place…the beach!!!” I even had special t-shirts made with the name of our trip, #SpringBreakFtLauderdale2014Baby (It helps to have a husband who runs a custom design apparel company, thanks My Smart Shirt!) So we met last year at the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel in Florida and a new tradition began. Since last year was our first official one, I didn’t know what to expect. Granted, I had been to that W Fort Lauderdale Hotel once before but this was our first time traveling together as friends and staying together. First of all, I don’t know what happened to the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel in the last few years but it is is like something out of a movie now. Beautiful, the staff is over the top friendly and accomodating staff (in a good way!) and the smell. The smell in that hotel is intoxicating. So much so they sell the scent in their gift shop which one of my besties even bought for me. hee hee
This year we arrived at the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel and were once again greeted and welcomed by very personable front desk staff. We were hungry, so they suggested we have dinner at Steak 954. Good gosh, I had one of the most amazing dinners I have ever eaten in my life. Oh and I am a super picky eater and loved everything so that should tell you something. Try the lobster bisque. For real. Ah-mazing! That place was so good we even went back for breakfast.
Quality girl time at the pool catching up was all that was truly on the agenda for two days this year. When you have that kind of time with your girlfriends and it’s not interrupted by work, children, life or whatever, conversation goes to a whole new level. Hillary, one of our pool servers, was so sweet we wanted to invite back on next year’s Spring Break! We ate super yummy hummus, salads and to balance that off, lol, the BEST french fries I have ever eaten and I am not normally a french fry person.
Only one small hiccup happened…I pinched a nerve in my upper back. Seriously, how does one pinch a nerve RELAXING??!! ha ha Does this mean I am getting old??!! 😉 We did a quick stop by Bliss Spa inside the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel, they squeezed me in and it was fixed in a jiffy! They actually have the Bliss Spa products in the hotel room which made me happy because the only lotion I use at home is the Bliss Spa lemon and sage butter! Score! Oh and I may or may not have taken a few travel sizes back with me. Shhhhh.
My favorite part of the weekend was the conversations with my besties. Not only catching up on life with them but also learning things about my friends that after many many years of friendship, I didn’t know. We laughed, we cried and we created memories. What a gift! I feel so refreshed, relaxed and my heart is so full! I am very big on tradition. I love having something to look forward to and although this #SpringBreakFtLauderdale2015Baby has just ended, I am already looking forward to #SpringBreakFtLauderdale2016Baby!
Do you have a tradition with your girlfriends? Tell me all about it!
